Free YouTube Outlier Finder

Find the videos that beattheir own channel in your niche.

Type a niche. We search YouTube and measure every result against its channel's usual views — so a small channel's breakout ranks above a big channel's average upload. Then borrow the pattern.

Free, no sign-up. Public YouTube data, measured when you search.

How to use outliers

Big views mean little. Views against the channel mean a lot.

A million views on a ten-million-subscriber channel is a normal day. Fifty thousand views on a channel that usually gets two thousand is a signal: the topic, the title or the thumbnail did something the audience didn't usually get. That's what this finder ranks by.

01

Rank by the multiple, not the view count

Each badge is the video's views divided by the median views of that channel's recent uploads. A 5× video pulled five times what its own audience normally delivers — that's the packaging or topic you want to study.

Weak

Copy the most-viewed video in the niche.

Better

Study the video with the highest multiple, even if its view count is smaller.

02

Look for the repeated pattern, not one hit

One outlier can be luck. When three titles in the same niche share a structure — a price, a comparison, a named audience — that's a pattern you can use.

Weak

"This one video blew up, so I'll remake it."

Better

"Three breakouts all name a budget in the title — mine should too."

03

Borrow the structure, not the title

Copying a title makes you the second video on the same promise. Keep the mechanism — the specific number, the contrast, the audience — and apply it to your own angle.

Weak

Reupload the same title with one word changed.

Better

Same structure (budget + outcome), your own topic and your own proof.

04

Check the format before you copy it

Long-form and Shorts outliers work for different reasons. Search the format you actually make — a Shorts hook pattern won't carry a 15-minute video.

Weak

Use a Shorts breakout as the model for a long tutorial.

Better

Toggle the format to match your upload, then compare like with like.

Rewrites are illustrative examples, not measured results.

From outlier to your next upload

  • Pick two or three outliers with the highest multiple, not the most views.
  • Write down what their titles have in common in one sentence.
  • Apply that structure to your own idea in the Title Generator.
  • Check the full package — title, thumbnail, hook — before publishing.
FAQ

Questions

What is a YouTube outlier?+

A video that performed far above its own channel's usual level. HookSignals measures it as the video's views divided by the median views of the channel's recent uploads.

Why not just sort by views?+

Raw views mostly measure channel size. Comparing each video with its own channel surfaces what worked for that audience — including breakouts from small channels.

Is the Outlier Finder free?+

Yes, no account needed. Lookups are limited per hour and per day because YouTube limits how many searches any app can run.

Where does the data come from?+

The public YouTube Data API, measured at the time of the search. Nothing is estimated or predicted. Results are cached for a few days per search.
