Install or update the developer build
Extract the ZIP to a permanent folder. Open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode and choose Load unpacked. Select the folder containing manifest.json. After replacing the files for an update, use the extension's Reload control, then reload the YouTube page.
The Inspect control does not appear
Confirm the extension is enabled and can access YouTube. Reload the page. You can also pin the toolbar icon, open the panel and paste a public video link. YouTube changes its page layout; the direct link lookup is available even when a card control is missing.
A metric is unavailable or old
A video can be private, deleted or restricted; its owner may hide a count. An unavailable field is not zero. Snapshots are normally cached for 30 minutes. During an outage an older snapshot is dated and labeled, then removed after 24 hours. Use Refresh snapshot to request the latest available data.
Connection or lookup limit
Public lookup works without signing in. Optional connection in Settings grants a higher allowance. Reconnect if the session expired. A lookup limit does not spend AI credits; wait before retrying. The extension does not receive permission to change billing, publish videos or spend website AI credits.
Keep your notes
Use Export notes CSV in Saved before uninstalling the extension or clearing browser data. Notes are local to this browser profile, and the website's saved collection is separate from the extension's collection. Clearing snapshot cache preserves notes. Uninstalling or deleting browser storage can remove them; there is no server backup.
Send a useful bug report
Include the extension version shown in Settings, Chrome version, the action you took and the error message. A public video link is helpful when the issue concerns one video. Do not include account tokens, API keys, billing details or private research notes.
